# Soaking up the Glamour of Barcelona

> Barcelona is Europe's nightlife capital, where the party runs until 7am on weeknights, and a wide range of attractions, beaches, and festivals make it a compelling destination that need not break the budget.

## Why visit
The city combines world-class nightlife with beaches, iconic architecture, and a calendar of festivals, and despite its reputation it remains affordable compared to London or New York.

## What to see
- **Eclipse Bar, W Hotel** — Spectacular bar with stunning views worth a visit for photos, though drinks are very expensive.
- **Olympic Pool at Montjuïc** — Described by The Guardian as the best pool in the world; admission is €5.35 and the views featured in Kylie Minogue's 2003 video 'Slow'.

## What to do
- **W Hotel Pool Parties (Splash)** — The W Hotel pool area hosts cool parties most nights at ground level.
- **Beach Club Nights at Mar Bella** — Barcelona's northern beaches host free-admission beach club events, especially on Sunday evenings; BOO restaurant and beach club is one example.
- **Festival of San Juan** — On June 23 the whole city heads to the beach for this midsummer festival; the metro runs all night and the following day is a holiday.
- **National Festival of Catalonia** — Held on September 11, another major celebration worth being in the city for.

## Good to know
Getting on guest lists for exclusive venues is often as simple as emailing the right person. Check Facebook and local flyer boards for beach party and event listings. Book restaurants and bars in advance for major festival nights like San Juan.
