# Castelfalfi – romantic resort in the heart of Tuscany

> Castelfalfi is a restored medieval ghost village in Tuscany, midway between Florence and Siena, transformed by TUI into a 5-star resort spread across more than 2,500 acres of classic Tuscan hill country, blending history, wine, golf, and art in one estate.

## Destination
Castelfalfi, Montaione, Tuscany, Italy — centrally located between Florence and Siena, roughly 40 miles (50 minutes by car) from Florence.

## Getting there
Fly or take the train to Florence, then drive approximately 40 miles to Castelfalfi (about 50 minutes by rental car). Recommended day trips: San Gimignano (17 miles, 26 min), Volterra (20 miles, 36 min), Siena (44 miles, 56 min), Antinori Winery (31 miles, 53 min).

## Why visit
A former abandoned village (paese fantasma) bought and restored by TUI in 2007 for €250 million using traditional ecological materials, Castelfalfi offers an authentically Tuscan setting with wine production, olive oil, golf, art events, and the landscape where Roberto Benigni filmed his 2002 Pinocchio movie.

- **Franco Mauro Franchi art exhibition** — Tuscan sculptor's works, including female-figure sculptures, exhibited in the castle cellar.
