# Cavas Wine Lodge in Mendoza, Argentina

> Cavas Wine Lodge is a Relais & Châteaux luxury estate set amid the vineyards of Mendoza, Argentina, offering Spanish colonial architecture, sweeping Andes views, and an intimate wine-country retreat for romantic travelers and wine lovers.

## Destination
Costaflores, Alto Agrelo, Mendoza, Argentina — approximately one hour's drive from Mendoza's airport.

## Getting there
Rent a car at Mendoza's airport; roads in rural Argentina lack signage and GPS can be unreliable, so pre-program navigation carefully. A well-maintained gravel road (no 4x4 required) leads through the vineyards to the property gate. Allow extra time when departing for the return to the airport.

## Why visit
A uniquely romantic hideaway combining vineyard scenery, dramatic Andes vistas, regional fine dining, a Moorish-Roman spa, and on-site wine cellar tastings — all within a beautifully designed Relais & Châteaux estate.

## What to see
- **Vineyard and Andes views** — Suites are set throughout the vineyard with private terraces and pools overlooking the Andes Mountains.
- **Spanish colonial architecture** — The estate's regal entrance gate and colonial-style buildings create a breathtaking first impression.
- **Wine cellar and tasting room** — A stylish underground tasting room where guests can sample the latest vintages.
- **Lounge and art collection** — Spacious main lounge decorated with sculptures and modern paintings.

## What to do
- **Wine tasting** — Sample estate wines in the cellar tasting room, including the house Sauvignon Blanc and Bonarda Reserva.
- **Moorish-Roman spa** — Facilities include relaxing baths, massages, an outdoor patio, and an outdoor whirlpool.
- **Fine dining** — Regional cuisine with inventive dishes by Chef Martin Gerardo Gandulfo Dolz, paired with top Argentine wines.
- **Tango shows** — Theatrical staircase doubles as a stage for tango performances held at the wine cellar level.
- **Explore nearby wineries** — A rental car allows visits to surrounding Mendoza wineries and the Tupungato Winelands golf course and polo grounds.

## Good to know
The lodge has 14 suites with living rooms, walk-in closets, private pools, and rooftop terraces with fireplaces. GPS and Google Maps are not always reliable in rural Mendoza; plan navigation in advance.
