# Switzerland’s Glacier 3000 and Peak Walk by Tissot

> Glacier 3000 is a high-alpine ski and hiking area above Col du Pillon in Switzerland, crowned since late October 2014 by the 'Peak Walk by Tissot,' the world's first suspension bridge connecting two mountain summits at 3,000 meters above sea level.

## Destination
Glacier 3000, above Col du Pillon, in the Gstaad Saanenland region of Switzerland; the Scex Rouge summit sits at approximately 3,000 m above sea level.

## Getting there
Take the giant aerial tramway (Scex Rouge cable car) from Col du Pillon up to the Glacier 3000 mountain station.

## Why visit
The Peak Walk by Tissot offers a one-of-a-kind crossing between two Alpine summits with sweeping 360-degree panoramas taking in Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau, Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, and more than 20 other 4,000-meter peaks.

## What to see
- **Peak Walk by Tissot suspension bridge** — A 107-meter-long, 80-cm-wide bridge climbing 7 meters from the mountain station to the Scex Rouge summit, engineered for wind speeds up to 200 km/h.
- **Alpine panorama** — Views encompass the Saanenland, Jura mountains, Bernese Highlands, Valais glacier, Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, and over 20 four-thousander peaks.
- **Mountain station by Mario Botta** — The Glacier 3000 mountain station was designed by renowned Swiss architect Mario Botta.

## What to do
- **Walk the Peak Walk suspension bridge** — Cross the bridge from the mountain station to the Scex Rouge summit observation deck for panoramic Alpine views.

- **Dining at Botta 3000 Restaurant** — Warm up after the bridge crossing with raclette and wine in the mountain restaurant below the summit.

## Good to know
The glassed-in staircase leading to the bridge provides shelter to adjust gear before stepping onto the exposed suspension bridge. Air is noticeably thinner at ~2,990 m; people with vertigo managed the crossing without issue thanks to the 1.2-meter-high handrail.
