# Hotel Bernerhof Gstaad – the “Hiking Hotel”

Innkeeper Thomas Freist (known online as @Wanderhotelier) personally accompanies guests on hikes and brings the Bernese Highlands landscape to life. The hotel combines comfortable, renovated rooms with several well-regarded restaurants under one roof.

- **Wispile Rooms** — Newly renovated rooms with rustic oak plank floors, restrained design, and a large window between bath and bedroom.
- **Lobby** — Welcoming entrance with a modern chandelier and warm colors.

- **Guided Hiking** — Host Thomas Freist personally accompanies guests on hikes; trekking poles are provided in the ski room in summer.
- **Snowshoeing** — Snowshoes are kept on-site for guests in winter season.
- **Dining at Basta by Dalsass** — Italian restaurant run by a trooper of South Tyrolean star chef Martin Dalsass, rated 15 Gault Millau points.
- **Dining at Stafel or La Gare** — Traditional Swiss restaurants serving regional fare such as Saanenland fondue, Swiss hash browns, and legendary Cordon Bleus (13 Gault Millau points).
- **Dining at Blun-Chi** — Gstaad's only Chinese restaurant, also located within the hotel.

## Good to know
The hotel continuously renovates different areas, offering a range of room types from classic family rooms to suites and modern Wispile rooms. A smoking lounge with an LP player is also on-site.
