# Design hotel: Kameha Grand Zurich – the hotel opening

> The Kameha Grand Zurich is a design-forward lifestyle hotel in Glattpark near Zurich Airport, featuring opulent interiors by Dutch designer Marcel Wanders that playfully incorporate Swiss cultural motifs throughout.

## Getting there
Zurich main train station is approximately 15 minutes away; the hotel is easily reached from all points of the compass due to its location near the airport.

## Why visit
A striking blend of Marcel Wanders' signature opulent design language with Swiss iconography — cowbells, chocolate-bar partitions, Appenzell paper cuttings, Toblerone-shaped pillows — creating a one-of-a-kind grand hotel experience without a traditional star rating.

## What to see
- **Reception area** — Giant cowbells hang from the ceiling as a nod to Swiss tradition.
- **Guest rooms** — Feature chocolate-bar-style partitions, Toblerone-shaped pillows, and a minibar hidden inside a large bank-safe replica.
- **Restaurant L'Unico** — Italian restaurant with a six-metre pasta plate suspended from the ceiling and an oversized pepper mill as décor centrepieces.

- **Smoker's Lounge** — Exclusive lounge with noble armchairs and a wide selection of Cuban and Dominican cigars.
- **Shisha Lounge** — Oriental-themed bar next to the Smoker's Lounge offering a 1001 Nights ambiance.
- **Puregold Bar & Lounge** — Gold-coin-decorated bar serving coffee and cupcakes by day, cocktails and long drinks by evening.
- **YU NIJYO Japanese Restaurant** — Sushi and sake venue helmed by chef de cuisine Norman Fischer in a soigné dark setting.

## Good to know
The hotel has 245 rooms and suites — including Premium, Deluxe, Executive, Business, and themed suites such as the Poker Face, Fair Play, and Diva Suites — and deliberately foregoes an official star rating, partly to remain accessible to corporate travel budgets.
