# Little Kulala – Luxury Camp in Namibia’s Desert

> Little Kulala Camp is a flagship Wilderness Safaris lodge set in the Kulala Wilderness Reserve, offering direct private access to Sossusvlei's iconic red sand dunes and the Namib-Naukluft National Park.

## Destination
Kulala Wilderness Reserve, southwestern Namibia, approximately 350 km from Windhoek near the Namib-Naukluft National Park; access gate on the D826 road about 17 km from Sesriem.

## Getting there
By road: roughly 5 hours from Windhoek, mainly on gravel roads. By air: approximately 1 hour on a single-engine Cessna with Scenic Air from Windhoek's Eros Airport or the Swakopmund airstrip, with aerial views of desert savanna and dunes.

## Why visit
The camp holds private gate access to Namib-Naukluft National Park, allowing guests to be first in at sunrise and last out at sunset. Eleven luxury chalets each have a private pool, lounge, and rooftop terrace for stargazing, with the option to sleep under the open sky.

## What to see
- **Sossusvlei** — Valley of spectacular red sand dunes, the primary draw for visitors to the reserve.
- **Deadvlei** — Neighbouring 'Valley of Death' famous for its ghost camel thorn trees against white clay pan.
- **Sesriem Canyon** — Short excursion from the camp into a narrow desert canyon.
- **Naukluft Mountain Zebra Park** — Home to Hartmann's mountain zebra and set against the scenic Naukluft Mountains; popular for sundowner drives.

## What to do
- **Guided dune excursions** — Guided trips to Sossusvlei and Deadvlei, including climbing dunes such as Dune 45.
- **Hot air balloon safari** — Namib Sky Balloon Safaris departs near the camp airstrip and drifts over the Sossusvlei dunes.
- **Sundowner drive** — Evening jeep outing into Naukluft Mountain Zebra Park for drinks against a mountain backdrop.
- **Stargazing from rooftop terrace** — Each kulala chalet has a private roof terrace designed for stargazing in the clear desert sky.

## Good to know
'Kulala' means 'to sleep' in Namibian. Nights can drop below 10°C. The camp's private park access means guests avoid the main public gate, gaining a significant time advantage at dawn and dusk.
