# Thailand tour part 3 – Bangkok and its W Hotel

> Bangkok serves as the final stop of a Thailand tour, highlighted by a stay at the W Hotel Bangkok on Embassy Row and forays into the city's markets, tailors, and rooftop bars.

## Destination
Bangkok, Thailand — W Hotel Bangkok located in the Embassy Row business district on Silom Road.

## Getting there
The authors returned from Koh Samui by speed catamaran and Bangkok Airways flight; within Bangkok, the BTS Skytrain is used to reach key destinations.

## When to go
The Chatuchak Weekend Market only operates on weekends, so visits should be planned accordingly. The Bee Garden street restaurant opens each evening after 6 p.m.

## Why visit
Bangkok offers a mix of luxury hotel experiences, world-class tailoring, authentic street food, rooftop bars with panoramic views, and one of the world's largest weekend markets.

## What to see
- **W Hotel Bangkok lobby art installation** — Features over 800 tuk-tuk lights and a custom light installation in the lift area; lobby carpets are changed three times daily.
- **Old Russian Embassy villa** — The historic villa sits in the forecourt of the modern 31-story W Hotel tower, providing a striking architectural contrast.
- **Sky Bar at Lebua at State Tower** — Rooftop bar on the 64th floor, known from the Hangover film series, offering a panoramic city view; drinks are pricey.

## What to do
- **Tony's Tailor on Silom Road** — Award-winning tailor (Best Tailor Awards 2009); standard orders take two days, larger orders around three.
- **Bee Garden street restaurant** — Authentic Bangkok street dining in front of the Siam Commercial Bank at ITF Tower on Silom Road, open evenings after 6 p.m. for over 10 years.
- **Chatuchak Weekend Market** — Over 20,000 stands across 14 hectares, drawing more than 200,000 visitors daily; open weekends only, reachable by Skytrain.
- **Kitchen Table breakfast buffet at the W Bangkok** — Extensive Asian, Western and intercontinental buffet served on Rosenthal porcelain, rated by the authors as a trip highlight.

## Good to know
The W Bangkok offered a complimentary late checkout at 4 p.m. and arranged a separate room for showering after checkout. The trip was booked through Nezasa.
