# The House Hotel Bosphorus – Classy yet Modern at the Same Time

> The House Hotel Bosphorus is a 26-room luxury boutique hotel in Istanbul's Ortaköy district, housed in a restored 19th-century mansion with stunning views of the Bosphorus and Bosphorus Bridge.

Ortaköy district, Istanbul, Turkey — situated directly on the Bosphorus, across from the Ortaköy Mosque and Bosphorus Bridge, outside the city center.

## Getting there
Taxis from the airport are readily available and relatively cheap; the hotel concierge provides address notes in Turkish for taxi drivers whose English is limited. Streetcars are also an option.

- **Ortaköy Mosque and Bosphorus Bridge** — Iconic landmarks directly across the square from the hotel; especially striking when lit up at night.
- **Hagia Sophia** — Historic landmark viewable by night; located near the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofya Hamami.
- **Blue Mosque** — Situated next to the Hagia Sophia in the city's historic core.
- **Spice Market** — Authentic and local-oriented market district with bustling streets and few tourists.

## What to do
- **Aya Sofya Hamami** — Large, bright traditional hamam opposite the Hagia Sophia; offers personal therapists for cleaning treatments and massages, with separated men's and women's sections.
- **Taxi rides around Istanbul** — Fast, affordable, and described as an adventure; the hotel concierge provides written address notes for drivers.
- **Shopping in Galatasaray district** — Recommended area for shopping; also home to another The House Hotel property.

## Good to know
Ortaköy is lively and can be noisy at night — earplugs are recommended. At breakfast, ask specifically for Menemen (eggs, peppers, and fresh tomatoes) rather than the standard omelette. The hotel was designed by Istanbul firm Autoban and was named among Tatler's 101 Best Hotels in the World 2012.
