# Tourists or not, Croatia’s Trogir is worth a visit!

> Trogir is a compact medieval island town on Croatia's Adriatic coast, packed with Romanesque, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture — touristy but well worth the stop.

## Destination
Trogir's old town occupies a small island off the Dalmatian coast, connected by two bridges to the Croatian mainland and the island of Čiovo. Split Airport lies nearby, closer to Trogir than to Split itself.

## Getting there
Accessible by car from Split (via the coastal road past the airport); a water taxi also runs between the hotel area and the old town roughly every 20 minutes, with a 15-minute ride.

## When to go
The article does not specify an ideal season, but notes heavy tourist crowds and traffic congestion at the Trogir bridge, especially at peak times of day.

## Why visit
The densely built medieval core blends Romanesque, Renaissance, and Baroque styles in a uniquely atmospheric setting, best explored on foot through its narrow lanes along the waterfront promenade.

## What to see
- **Old Town Island** — Dense medieval streetscape with restaurants, bars, shops, and architectural styles spanning Romanesque to Baroque.
- **Fortress Kamerlengo** — Historic fortress visible along the waterfront promenade.
- **Trogir Waterfront Promenade** — Scenic pier-side walkway with moored sailing yachts and water taxis.

## What to do
- **Water Taxi to Old Town** — Runs every ~20 minutes from the hotel area; the authors specifically recommend it.
- **Day Trip to Split** — Nearby city with a harbor promenade, cathedral, and winding alleys worth exploring on a self-guided walk — parking is difficult, so grab any available spot.

## Good to know
Traffic jams on the bridge leading to Trogir can be severe depending on the time of day — a problem for anyone needing to catch a flight at the adjacent Split Airport. A new bridge was reportedly under construction at the time of writing. Hotel Ola in Seget Donji sits on the favorable side of the bridge relative to the airport and hosts a barbecue dinner twice a week (reservation recommended).
