When travelling on South Africa’s Garden Route make sure to spend two days on a private safari game, say in Lalibela’s Kichaka luxury lodge.

Lalibela Game Reserve’s Kichaka Lodge

What a place! From the moment we arrive we are being looked after by the outstanding staff. The place is overwhelming!

A tremendous Lodge embedded in an amazing landscape. For us it seems like heaven on earth…

Our villa ‘Honeysuckle’ offers an exceptional level of comfort and luxury as well as a full panoramic view. Enjoy absolute privacy on the villa terrace!

While having lunch on the terrace of the main lodge, which provides a magnificent viewing deck, we are surprised by ‘Harry’ – Kichaka’s house hippo, which just came out of the water hole.

What a fantastic welcome! :-)

Private Game Drive

In the late afternoon go on a private safari game with the ranger.

We had excellent sightings of giraffes, elephants, rhinos and buffalos, as well as zebras and numerous species of antelopes.

But the game drive’s absolute highlight are the mating lions!

Before you return to the lodge you are shown to a sundowner. What a glorious feeling being all alone in the wilderness!

Sunset at Kichaka Lodge

There was only one thing which could top it all … enjoying this graceful peace with a “sundowner”…

However, it got quite cold after sunset, we therefore appreciated the warm tea and the Sherry at the fireplace back at Kichaka Lodge.

Later enjoy a delicious 5 star cuisine dinner and the outstanding service of the staff in a romantic ambiance in the dinner saloon.

BTW, nearby Addo Elephant Park makes it into this guide on the 6 best South African national parks.
