The family-operated Valbella Inn Resort, a comfortable four star Superior hotel lies on the upslope of the Lenzerheide high valley. From the resort you get a magnificent view of the Alps massif – mountains as far as the eye can see. To your left juts up the striking Rothorn mountain, while to the right dazzle the Piz Scalottas and the Stätzerhorn.

The Valbella Inn Resort consists of the main building «Tgiasa Principala», the wooden extension wind «Tgiasa da Lenn» with the «Tor da Lenn» wellness tower, as well as the «Tgiasa Fastatsch» since December 2013.

The combination of modern design and cozy atmosphere is very well done and immediately conveys a sense of wellbeing. This is also due to the prudent way in which the Ramona and Thomas Vogt, the hotel hosts manage the resort and make every effort to greet each guest personally.

The four star superior hotel is one of Design & Lifestyle Hotels in Graubünden and is also time a paradise for children at the same time. Children over two have the “Kids Inn”created by the LEGO Group. There they can have their fun, too, while the grown ups relax and enjoy the lifestyle.

People often ask us if we couldn’t write about an elegant but family-friendly hotel sometime. We can now say that we’ve have actually found one ;-)

Moreover, the Valbella team is very creative in putting their packages together! They offer various package deals, such as a family special, Nordic walking days or biking experiences. But the most creative package is the “Holzer Week” in June!

Rooms in the «Tgiasa da Lenn»

Our room was in the «Tgiasa da Lenn» (from the Romansch, “wooden house”) with 27 modern Alpine design rooms.

The furnishings are comfortable and homey, the rooms spacious, and the Nespresso coffee machine puts even morning grumps in a good mood :-)

Restaurant «Fastatsch»

In matters culinary, prepare yourself to be spoiled in two different restaurants at the Valbella Inn Resort. In the “Capricorn” restaurant they off er a colorful selection of gastronomic delights. After a day in the snow, we were hankering for meat and that made the «Fastatsch» restaurant specializing in grilled dishes, our choice for dinner.

Here, too, comfort and style define the interior.

Table setting in the hotel’s Fastatsch restaurant

By the way, the «Fastatsch» restaurant has a large sun deck, so that you can enjoying your afternoon coffee and cake before that marvelous mountain vista.

Five floors of wellness in the «Tor da Lenn»

You will find Valbella Inn Resort’s wellness area in the «Tor da Lenn» wooden tower. On its five floors you can enjoy a steam room, saunas, salt or ice peels and rest on warmed loungers. On the open roof deck is the panoramic sauna’s cold water tub. But since we ourselves tend to be toe-dippers, we left this part to the more thick-skinned types.

Of course, you can let yourself be spoiled from a large menu of nourishing facial and body treatments.

The wellness tower by the way has an underground connection with the «Tschasa da Lenn» that was very convenient for us. Guests residing in the main house or in the «Fastatsch» are (regrettably) exposed to the weather and need to wear boots and coats to achieve wellness, which does not strike us as a bit inconvenient. However, host Thomas Vogt assured us that one of their next projects will be to connect all houses by underground passages.

Lenzerheide – sports and recreation paradise

The Lenzerheide offers many sports and leisure options year-round, from mountain walks or a round of golf in beautiful natural surroundings during the summer to downhill and cross country skiing and sledding in the winter.

Valbella

In January 2014, the Urdenbahn aerial tramway started operating, coupling Arosa and Lenzerheide into a single winter sports area. It made Arosa-Lenzerheide the largest linked ski area in Graubünden and placed it among Switzerland’s Top 10 winter sports regions!

Our thanks go to…

… The extremely friendly host Thomas Vogt for the delicious dinner. He seems to have a flair for being able to remember the names of his guests. He was pretty sure that Walter had often stayed at the Valbella Inn. He did not – but my brother did and he pretty much looks like Walter!
