The Andreus Golf & Spa Resort sits in the picturesque Passiria Valley in Italy’s South Tyrol, just a 20 minute drive north of Merano. Harmoniously blending with the landscape, the 5 star Andreus Hotel offers its guests luxury and recreation.

A beautiful residential ambiance, gastronomic delights and a lavish wellness oasis invite you to tarry and enjoy. The 18-hole Passeier golf course is just out the front door. Also highly rewarding is an excursion to the Kastelruth golf course, in the foothills of the Dolomite Mountains. It has ups and downs like nowhere else…

You know you are in South Tyrol when a warm smile greets you on arrival in the hotel! :-) The mix of Mediterranean lifestyle and alpine tradition and the people’s hospitable nature give South Tyrol its special charm. And this is how we, too, were received at the Hotel Andreus.

Panorama and Garden Suites in the Andreus 5 star Golf & Wellness Hotel

The suites are very stylishly appointed in wood, natural stone and materials and have all the comforts for spoiling guests. From the first moment, you feel in harmony with nature because of the warm ambiance, the comfortable furnishings and choice of materials.

Garden Suite

All suites have a bedroom with sofa and seating area, walk-in closet, safe, minibar, direct dial telephone and satellite TV with Internet connection (LAN cable).
The separate bathroom has a shower, toilet, and bidet. By the way, from the taps throughout the house flows Grander water. This so-called “invigorated water” is said to have a beneficial effect on the whole human organism. Naturally, we drank our generous share while there…

Culinary delights in the 5th floor panorama restaurant

The abundant, healthy breakfast with an organic section leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. But in the evening, too, you will be treated to a six-course gourmet dinner. The selection is ample and the menus are put together and presented with a passion for detail. We need hardly mention that we were also served with a warm hospitality at the restaurant…

Dining room

Should you get a little hungry in the afternoon already, just help yourself to the buffet with its array of fine cakes from the in-house patisserie.

Cozy salon for coffee and cake

The only thing we steered clear of was the cigar lounge. The organic section had simply made too much of a wholesome impression on us to torpedo with a cigar. We’ll leave that for another time…

“Wow effect” wellness & spa in the Andreus Resort!

The 2,000 m2 sauna world with its many exceptional features evoked the “wow effect” in us! The sense of wellbeing was immediate the moment we entered the sauna area with its tastefully matched materials and colors.

Wood decor in the relaxation zone of the Spa world

What’s more, the offerings are huge and invite you at every turn to relaxation and wellbeing, be it in the connected, year-round heated indoor-outdoor pool, under the various waterfalls and experience showers, herbal and saline steam baths, the Finnish panoramic sauna , or be it in the clay sauna or the whirlpool chaises with underwater music. The big picture window does justice to the panoramic part of the sauna’s name. As the afternoon sun floods in, this is one unusual sauna with a beautiful view.

We particularly enjoyed the quiet oases, be it the alpine relaxation room with hay beds or the cozy nooks in the beautifully landscaped garden. But we liked most leaving all our cares behind while swinging on the double swing…

Andreus Spa Suite

During our stay, we indulged in a “Caribbean Dream” in the Andreus Spa Suite. Life is rough… The Spa Suite has all the right stuff for a wellness oasis atmosphere: infrared cabin, double whirlpool tub and cuddle corner – highly recommended for homey intimacy after a hectic day.

After the body peel with exotic extracts, a soothing bath in avocado and other oil followed by a full body massage, all that was left for us to do was savor the exquisite cocktail and fruit plate…

Golf in South Tyrol

Practically right next to the Andreus Resort is the Passiria Golf Course. The water hazards, including seven ponds with water lilies, and the numerous bunkers are course highlights.

Although we very much like the Passiria Golf Course, we did also drive up to the Seiseralp. For there lies in Kastelruth – in our view – one of the most spectacular 18 hole golf courses in South Tyrol: The place is in an idyllic setting in the midst of the imposing Dolomites Ponds, ravines, streams, fascinating waterfalls make for a stunning backdrop. It’s quite possible to be distracted by all that nature as you are about to tee off…

There are literally lots of ups and downs, with the par 3 holes placed so that you are hitting straight down: the 15th hole is said to have Europe’s greatest drop in height between tee and green.

Walter at the fourth tee in Kastelruth

And at the par 3 fourth hole, the ball not only has to fly across a thunderous creek down into a valley but there is zero room for error either to the right or left. I’m not telling here where my two tries landed…

The 5th tee in Kastelruth in the Dolomites

But easy does it; after a breathtakingly steep climb to the 5th hole, the ball only has to carry over a chasm. Somewhere there, on the other side of the valley, is the start of the fairway. Simply spectacular!
