This post was inspired by travel comparison website dealchecker and their flights to Malta / Gozo. Thanks Bettina for your photographs!

Malta

Malta is located South of Sicily in the Mediterranean Sea. Malta’s capital Valletta not only offers winter sun holidays but also UNESCO World Heritage venues! The Grandmaster’s Palace, still the seat of the Maltese government, was built in 1571 and it’s decked out in grand style. Sumptuous furnishings, beautiful paintings and even a huge collection of armor and weapons are on show. Seek out the popular Throne Room or the Tapestry Chamber for its stunning tropical tapestries.

The Upper Barrakka Gardens or St John’s Co-Cathedral from 1578 are further points of interest as described on dealchecker’s blog.

Malta, for some reason, is renowned for its English classes. Lot’s of students prefer to improve their language skills in the nicely tempered South of Europe.

Leaving behind the relatively small city you will find seven caves on the southern coast of the island. Take a trip there on a traditional boat. The water is stunningly blue and the caves are imposing and beautiful. A must for any visitor to the island.
