Today we did the Irish-Roman Spa Ritual in the Thermal Bath & Spa in Zurich. It is a beautiful wellness oasis built right in the middle of the city in the former Hürlimann brewery building. It was marvelous!

Wellness high above the roofs of Zurich

The Thermal Bath & Spa Zürich presents itself in the best light and raises expectations stone vaults, furnished simply but in great style, give it a trendy, even faintly oriental, look thanks to a collection of chandeliers.

Thermal bath water worlds

Bathing is in giant wooden vats filled with hot water from the “Aqui” spring with its valuable mineral content. Different massage jets , bubble mats , massage stations , whirlpools , a steam room , emerald bath , and Kneipp zone provide variety.

The pool on the roof deck

The veritable highlight is the rooftop thermal pool that let us enjoy a magnificent view of Zurich. A trendy lounge on the top floor invites guests to linger. It offers delicious tidbits and sweets that not only look healthy but also taste great!

We went for the wine, naturally; it’s supposed to be very good for you after all…

Spa Ritual

There is a small extra charge for the Irish-Roman spa ritual, but it is well worth it. The circuit takes about two hours and promises the ultimate in relaxation! It starts with warming up the body in a steam bath. Next, lather up with a sea buckthorn peel that scrubs away dead skin cells. After a shower you enter the hot herbal steam bath to complete the body cleansing and detoxification.

Next, luxuriate in more warm baths (Roman bath, kinotherapeutic bath) with various massage jets and bubble mats. In between, you relax on the warmed platform lounges and when it is all over, once again you can linger in the beautiful spa lounge, over fine snacks, fruited drinks or a small glass of Prosecco for the crowning final touch to your stay.

You do have to know how to relax just a bit ;-)

Update June 6.2013:

Thermal spring now with B2 Boutique Hotel & Spa

On March 1, 2012, for the first time the B2 Boutique Hotel & Spa belonging to the Thermal Bath also opened its doors in the Hürlimann Areal.

Check rates and availability here.

The design succeeds at a very attractive level with a blend of modern infrastructure and borrowed historical elements in the form of old brewery pumps, valves and cooling towers.

The suites are spectacular split-floor duplex apartments. Here, too, references to the old industrial building combine comfortably with the elegant furniture and bold colors. Highly accomplished!

A highlight is the librarystocked with thousands of hand-picked books bought from antique shops. We will drop in another time for a more detailed review. For starters, here are a few smartphone pix…
