The Relais & Châteaux Hotel Les Sources des Alpes sits slightly elevated above the center of Leukerbad and has a sublime vista of the valley in store for its guests. It is the region’s only luxury hotel and its two pools with hot thermal spring water are worth the faster pulse …

Hotel Les Sources des Alpes in Leukerbad

Thanks to the Harley-Davidson “Route du Bonheur” by Relais & Châteaux we had the chance to visit this charm of a hotel: Riding our heavy “machines,” we thundered behind road captain and maître de maison Pierre Berclaz up through the Wallis to Leukerbad.

You can’t go wrong if you treat yourself soon after your arrival to a dip in the 34 degrees hot spring water. The indoor and outdoor pools are open year-round.

Available in addition are a sauna, a Turkish bath, solarium and beauty salon. A very popular program operated jointly with Dr. Burgener is also offered. An early reservation is definitely recommended!

Hotel rooms with “springy” carpeting

The hotel has 30 spacious, bright and elegant rooms that offer all the comforts one could ever want, including WLAN. Essential for travel bloggers, of course…

The colors are used in understated fashion and have a calming effect. And to let you “fly” across the carpet in a feathery manner, it has been given special middle layer. Very pleasant!

The bathroom is large, bright and utilitarian; my fair lady’s beauty aid collection will find generous counter space here.

Restaurant “La Malvoisie”

Chef Laurent Omphalius is the guarantor for the high culinary reputation of the hotel’s “La Malvoisie” restaurant.

His tempting creations, inspired by colorful, light and healthy Mediterranean cuisine, are in keeping with the spirit of the wellness center and are a highlight of any stay in Leukerbad.

Tartar Amuse Bouche

Laurent’s motto, “Gourmet, yes; but within reason” really sinks in only after a five course meal: Though you may not exactly feel light as a feather after feasting on his culinary delights, they still let you fall into a deep, saluuubrious sleep…

Even here high in the Alps, Laurent Omphalius spoils his guests with the delicious fish specialties that play a central role in his menus.

Oh, yes, they also know desserts here…

Baba with strawberries and its ice cream

…and that doesn’t happen by itself.

So that the dessert doesn’t feel deserted…
