The Relais & Châteaux Hotel Beau Rivage Neuchâtel stands in the heart of Swiss watch country. Located on the popular lake promenade Esplanade du Mont-Blanc, it features spacious rooms and a superb gourmet restaurant…

We traveled to the Beau Rivage in Neuchâtel as part of a Harley-Davidson “Route du Bonheur” tour on heavy choppers. As we thundered through the curve into the hotel driveway, there already awaiting us was Maître de Maison Thomas Maechler and his team, a tray of beers to hand. Very thoughtful, given the warm weather ;-)

After a “hot” ride, a beer on the spot. What a reception!

After freshening up and changing out of the black leather outfit into that little black number we set off on a quick guided tour through the five star superior hotel.

Guest rooms in the Hotel Beau Rivage Neuchâtel

The Beau Rivage has over 65 spacious, stylish rooms and suites that invite guest to feel good and relax. The subtle, finely modulated color combinations make a material contribution here.

Typical color scheme for the rooms

From most of the rooms, guests can delight in a spectacular panorama over the shores of Lake Neuchâtel and the Bernese Highlands Alpine range in the distance.

The six suites located in the building’s corners, with red accents and large floor lamps, are appointed a notch more boldly than the hotel rooms and, naturally, even more generously laid out with a living room and separate bedroom.

Not bad at all ;-)

No wonder that renowned watch manufacturers year in and year out reserve several suites at once for their guests…Generally, the watch industry, the plants being located in the vicinity, is one of the hotel’s most important sources of clients.

Various conference rooms are available for their workshops, some with a very “stimulating” ambiance

But tourists can also expect to be superbly lodged in the hotel, because the location between Lake Promenade and Neuburg’s city center is truly phenomenal.

In the basement, guests benefit from a small but practical fitness center and also an intimate and equally fine spa.

As usual in hotels of the Relais & Châteaux marketing alliance, gastronomy is of central importance. The gourmet can expect treats for the eye and the palate here…

Macaroons being prepared

Chef Eric Mazeas and his kitchen brigade are in COMPLETE control of their spacious kitchen: From pâté de foie gras teaser, to the amuse bouche, appetizers, and main courses ending with dessert, it all tasted simply divine. Or however you say it in the ‘gourmetically correct’ way…

The next morning, we tackled the last stage: In Wallis, we rode to the Hotel Les Sources des Alpes in Leukerbad.

Warmest thanks!

Our most sincere thanks to owner and hotel host Thomas Maechler and his attentive team for the excellent service (polishing of motorcycles included…) and the idyllic dinner!

I also wish to thank Richard Guyon, Relais & Châteaux manager for Switzerland and Liechtenstein, for the generous invitation! We enjoyed the spectacular tour of these noble hotels to the fullest!

Sabine Biedermann of Primus Communications organized and coordinated the tour, and for her work we extend our sincere thanks!
