In researching Mauritius hotels, I came across the Dinarobin Beachcomber. The Arabic-sounding name right away cast a spell on me, so that is how the Dinarobin wound up on my bucket list for this trip.

However, we would just as soon not book this ultimate adrenaline rush by Lago di Vogorno — because a helicopter ride to “Rustico del Sole,” a restaurant located a scant 5 km as the crow flies from the dam, is no less spectacular!

The Wharf Birchgrove, built in 2009, is located on the site of a former shipyard owned by the Stannard Brothers boat building company, and sits directly above Sydney’s largest private wharf. Constructed in 1946, the 70m jetty was once a working wharf handling all manner of goods, and home to boat sheds and garages for ship repairs.

Anassa – with a name that means “queen” in archaic Greek, little wonder that the hotel is known as the “Queen of the Mediterranean.” And it does indeed reign, dignified and slightly elevated, located on a sensational private stretch of the coast between the small town of Polis and Latchi, a picturesque fishing hamlet.
All right – we knew we’d selected a 5-star resort on Gili Lankanfushi that would leave nothing more to be desired. But even so, what we found there far exceeded our expectations – welcome to an earthly paradise!
