During our two-week Puglia roundtrip we stayed at wonderful country houses (Masseria Cimino, Masseria Le Fabriche, Masseria Fumarola) and stylish hotels (La Sommità Relais, Acaya Golf Resort, Histó Relais). On our way in-between we also visited Borgo Egnazia Resort and Masseria Bagnara but we didn’t stay there overnight. Therefore they make it only to some of our unstructured list of rankings. (You do have to discuss something at lunch time, don’t you? We like to compile our little ratings as a holiday review during the lengthy yet tasty Italian luncheons…)

Built on a former Masseria that housed an abbey dating back to the first century, this retreat offers 46 stunning rooms and suites around a few courtyards and a spa with its two pools. The showers are the most generous around ;-)

The luxury hotel ‘La Mamounia’ is located at a short walk from Marrakech’s city centre. It is said to offer one of Africa’s most atmospheric spa & wellness setups. Next time around I should free up some more time in order to check with my own eyes ;-)

The ‘Djemaa el Fna’ in Marrakech is one of the UNESCO’s ‘masterpieces of the oral and intangible heritages of humanity’. Street performers, fortune-tellers and charlatans offer their arts between food and beverage stalls.

The Byron at Byron Resort and Spa is an exceptionally stylish design accomodation embedded in tropical rainforest. Just a short drive outside of Byron Bay it offers a relaxed atmosphere in very generous suites.

If you are looking for a romantic getaway in Austria, we can recommend the Geniesser- and Kuschelhotel Gams. The Hotel is located in Bezau at Bregenzerwald, a valley between Lake Constance and the Arlberg. It is the ideal destination for gourmet holidays amidst pure nature.
