Eolo: Relais & Châteaux Heaven in Patagonia, Argentina

Eolo is a luxurious ranch-style lodge nestled in a remote valley — on route to the Perito Moreno glacier, near El Calafate.

It is a stunning establishment where unspoiled nature can be explored or a relaxing holiday can be spent. Savor the delectable cuisine whilst enjoying the breathtaking landscape views.

EOLO: Relais & Châteaux in Patagonia, Argentina

Eolo hotel is an invigorating haven for tranquility. From the moment you arrive, your every need is tended to by the amicable and accommodating staff.

In fact, we were pleasantly surprised when they arranged our departure check-in and even printed our boarding passes!

Exceptional service to say the least.

The lodge features 17 suites with stunning views of the Lago Argentino; Argentina’s largest lake. La Anita Valley is also visible and on a clear day Torres del Paine can be seen in the distance!

It’s the perfect holiday hideaway for nature lovers.

The suites are all spacious with marvelous stone-tiled bathroom and toiletries from L’Occitane en Provence. The decor is minimalist but comfortable and classy.

Hardly noticeable actually, considering the spectacular views right outside your window.

Needless to say,  when  staying at a Relais & Châteaux, the cuisine is of the utmost importance.

Dinner selections include a choice of two entrees and three main courses. We were quite satisfied with the choices we made.

But never forget to leave room for dessert!

Activities and Excursions at Eolo

Eolo offers several outdoor activities including horse back riding, hiking, mountain biking and bird watching.

We opted for horseback riding (“cabalgata”) with our local guide, Gonzalo. Despite little experience riding horses, we managed to enjoy the ride thanks to Gonzalo’s clear instructions… and the very patient horses; Electra and Freddy!

Thanks to Gonzalo for taking us on a ride! And for taking these pictures ;-)

Another “must-do” when staying at Eolo or in neighboring Calafate, is an excursion to the Perito Moreno glacier. We went on a mini-trekking adventure there. Read our photo essay about this awesome experience.

For this day-long excursion the hotel even prepared a delicious lunch bag including a sandwich salad, fruits and dessert — from a detailed menu we selected from the night before.

Thanks a lot to Eolo’s Rodrigo Braun and Núria Galià (Relais & Châteaux) for sponsoring this trip!

Congratulations and warm appreciation to  manager Valentin Virasoro and his attentive staff for offering this awe-inspiring experience!
