Top Three Affordable Luxury Resorts in North America

Summertime is the time for escape. For children, the season represents an escape from the classrooms. For adults on vacation, it is a time of escape from reality, the worries at home. For everyone, it’s simply an escape from the cold, grueling winter months. That vacation time for adults is precious time.

By travel writer David Bryce.

Generally speaking, American companies don’t allow for too much vacation time. In that rare instance you are able to get away, obviously you want to do it right. However, in this economy, many families don’t have the money to go on a splashy and lavish trip. Many families actually can’t afford to get away at all. There are an increasing number of people who use what little paid vacation they are entitled to by staying at home. Thankfully, there are ways to get away without spending a fortune. Here are three of the best, yet still affordable, luxury resorts in North America.

Red Mountain Resort & Spa

I myself am something of an indoor cat, but for those who enjoy the outdoors, this is the perfect getaway. Located in close proximity to the red rock cliffs of Snow Canyon State Park, Red Mountain Resort offers an abundance of fun outdoor activities for its guests. Hiking is greatly emphasized here, as the resort offers 30 guided tours (the tours vary from week to week). Many take the opportunity to trek Zion National Park or Bryce Canyon. Those who aren’t afraid to travel just a little bit more can go the 100 miles or so to explore the Grand Canyon. For this, three meals a day, a massage and a chance to get some horse riding in, guests only have to pay a little over $250 a night.

Desert Springs JW Marriott Resort & Spa

Everything just seems bigger in California, including the state itself. That certainly applies to the Desert Springs JW Marriott Resort & Spa, which contains 884 rooms and measures in at 38,000 square feet. Each of the 884 rooms at this Palm Beach resort comes equipped with granite vanities, HDTV screens and, most importantly, a private balcony to observe the vast southern California landscape. You don’t even need to travel to experience a different restaurant every night; this resort has eight onsite. For a little over $400 a night, guests can stay at this gorgeous resort, get a tasty breakfast, two spa treatments and access to the state of the art gym.

Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort

To get here may require a little bit more traveling, but this Costa Rica marvel will make it worth the trip. The Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort has a lot of spark, possibly attributable to the fact that it sits at the base of the 5,360 foot Arenal Volcano. Or maybe it’s because of the hot springs the resorts sits on top of, creating an abundance of thermal pools that are guaranteed to invigorate anyone who sits in them. The pathways are populated with gorgeous tropical plants. It’s an island getaway, only inside and with spa treatments. Guest can stay here for three nights at $1,496. For a Central America treasure like this, that’s a steal.

Everyone needs a vacation, whether it’s from work, school or themselves. These are some of the best places in this great continent of ours to escape to.
