Early in 2013 we are touring Chile and Argentina on a Relais & Châteaux assignment. They are a collection of the most beautiful restaurants and hotels scattered around the world. Historically the hotel collection started out in 1954 as ‘route du bonheur’ (route of happiness), rallying outstanding restaurants and hotels along the picturesque route from Paris to lavish Côte d’Azur on the Mediterranean.

Once we learned about that concept we thought there must also be a route du bonheur in Chile and Argentina. Here’s our take…

Chile: Santiago de Chile, Atacama desert, Puerto Montt, Punta Arenas
Argentina: San Carlos de Bariloche, El Calafate, Mendoza, Buenos Aires
